Thanks Steve for the information. Today, Friday, was the only good flying day this week. Tomorrow the forecast calls for RAIN and the club schedule is for our monthly pylon race. Great fun! A 25 engine, plastic down spout for the fuse, pink insulation foam for the wing and old vote-for-me political sign material for tail feathers. Just low key fun - just like a pattern meet! :)

Hi Rick--
All the "Cuban" Eights are done on their side, like the infinity symbol.
So a half cuban, start out straight and level, pull up through a 5/8ths loop. At the 5/8ths point, do a short straight line (you will be inverted and on a 45 degree downline), then do a half roll to upright, continue that straight 45 degree downline a bit, then pull up to level.
Much easier to do than to say. A reverse half cuban eight, pull up to a 45 degree angle, climb up for a while, 1/2 roll to inverted, continued to 45 degree line for a bit, then pull a loop so you come back up around straight and level.
How is the weather over on the wet side? Great weather day today, but I had to work. Tomorrow morning should be good, but the weather girl says increasing winds Sat afternoon with worse on Sunday. We will see....

Hey pattern flyers, could you please explain what exactly is a Half Cuban Eight? Sounds like an Immelmann that keeps looping until near the bottom of the circle, then a half turn. And is a regular Cuban Eight performed as a vertical maneuver, like the number 8? Or is it performed on its side, like the sign for infinity?
Thanks,
el ricko
