[Talkrc] Anybody Fly This Weekend?

I resemble the previous remarks precisely. I took my P51 Mustang out to the
field Friday for the first time at lunchtime with Fred Fisher and Fred
Stong. I did some engine run in and fine tuning of the mixtures, trim
tweaking and radio checks while the two Fred's were flying. By the time I
was done and feeling reasonably good about the Mustang, the sun went behind
the clouds and the wind kicked up more ending any real thoughts about flying
the Mustang for the maiden flight. I took the Edge out around 4 pm that
evening but the wind and cold were far too much ending any thoughts of an
evening flight.

You read Fred Stong's narrative about our adventure to Zillah yesterday,
Saturday. The wind was about 15-20 mph from the North and was a straight
cross-wind to the Zillah runway. There was no rational thought of flying in
those conditions, just dashed hopes for both of us. I loved the field there
and plan to return sometime under better weather conditions to fly it for
myself.

I echo the previous sentiments about the weather lately, bah-humbug. After
observing earlier this season an event where a too brisk wind pushed a plane
wing down on landing. The low wing-tip caught the ground cartwheeling the
plane and smashing the tail section into little pieces. This was not my
plane but a valuable lesson anyway, the risks are a little too great when
the winds are a little too excessive.

Have a great weekend in-spite of this bah-humbug windy weather. BAH-HUMBUG
is right.
