You all missed out today. Craig and I ventured out about 2pm. Nice
sunshine, almost still wind, not too bad.

Flew for about 1 1/2 hours. We both had our electrics out-- the thought of
messing with cold alcohol-based fuel made the choice easy, although it
really wasn't that bad.

Craigs new big 40-size Hyperion YAK54 is very impressive. Takeoff in about 5
feet, climbs straight up if you want. Will hover about 1/2 throttle.
Surprisingly stable, even with large 3-D surfaces. Flies much more stable
than my fun-fly 40-size Sig Somethin' Extra.

Really flies slow nice also. No sign of any tip stall, even with hard
base-to-final corner. It locks into a 3-point landing stance and comes down
the glideslope like locked on a rail. Just vary the throttle a little to
control the decent rate, don't need to touch the elevator.

Planes fly great in the cold crisp air.
